War Wizard

Relg expected more of a fight but the Black Wizards knew they couldn't withstand dragonfire, they let him pass. Within the castle Relg sensed a source of power beyond anything he'd experienced before, beyond anything he found in his studies, he was certain it was the key. He followed the feeling to a locked door, it was nothing to burn it away, inside waited an old wizard, key in hand. "You are not what you seem." Relg told him, "Your illusion does you no good, I can dispel it easily." "No need." the wizard replied and his face melted away to show metal underneath. "A construct!" it was the first robot he'd ever seen, the shock put him off guard and the mechanical wizard attacked.

It was powerful, but its power couldn't dispel Relg's dragonfire, the thing eventually melted away. The hours of focusing his energies left Relg spent, an easy target for the remaining Black Wizards but he set himself to watch through the night. At dawn he woke to find eleven wizards standing over him, "You have destroyed the Guardian and the Key Master," one spoke, "you are the one we seek, the War Wizard, Three."
