Another Part
Into the breach... almost... still mulling over the battle scene. Once again, feel free to comment or make suggestions.
Cougar watched Isu in the darkness but she didn't make her move. It was coming, perhaps in battle, perhaps elsewhere. It was vengeance and revenge was personal, often demanding intimacy.
Arleen planned on staying close to Isu during battle, she was prepared to do whatever necessary to prevent the murder she kept seeing, to interfere with fate.
There were forty-seven people guarding the tunnel, all of them shielded in one way or another. The crew brought some shields with them but they wouldn't hold up to the beating they were going to take, on the other hand it was likely that the enemy's shields would fail first. Joel and his team developed several shield breakers, two of a new technology that promised to cut through any kind of shield. Against the three psionics guarding the hall were the monk, Arleen, Den and Goren but only the monk had enough battle experience to match what they were probably going to face. It was the natural rock shielding that was going to pose the greatest problem in their fight to reach the command center door. Beyond the door the only known was that there were over sixty people inside, including thirteen psionics. The Old Man estimated that by the time they got inside they'd be facing odds of at least two to one.

One more stall and the battle is joined.
Hungry... tv dinner time.
For 77 cents the tv dinner should have been worse. The brownie actually tasted like one.
I've really boxed myself in. I've been staring at what I've written for a half hour now and still can't figure anything out. I was thinking of another stall to give myself overnight to think but I couldn't come up with one.
